“Plaza Has Your Back: 2026” brought Brooklyn families, elected officials, the NYPD and community organizations together on Nostrand Avenue.

BROOKLYN, N.Y., Aug. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — “We help Brooklyn move every day. This week, we helped Brooklyn’s students move forward.”

Plaza Auto Mall welcomed Brooklyn families to its Nostrand Avenue location on Aug. 25 for Plaza Has Your Back: 2026, a community celebration designed to help local students begin the new school year prepared and confident.

During the event, Plaza Auto Mall and its partners distributed hundreds of free backpacks and school-supply kits. Families also enjoyed face painting, games, balloon sculptures, snow cones, cotton candy, popcorn, snacks and music from a live DJ.

The event was made possible with support from New York City Council Members Farah N.
